A lot of celebrities on many social media platforms are faking their followers count.

New report sone by Sortlist has some answers for us.

"Having 'fake followers' on social media could make an influencer or celebrity seem like they have more influence or fame than they actually do, especially when you look at the scale and proportion of fake followers on these platforms."

The article on Forbes is exploring the topic of the celebrities faking their follower counts on social media. The article is based on the fresh report that was done by international marketing agency ‘Sortlist’ and it discovered that new model and self-made Instagram star Jay Alvarrez has been in the top 10 of many social media list of having most followers, but the most interesting part is that most of the followers are fake.

It is obvious that celebrities are faking the followers count to make it seem that their persona and content is exclusive, so it won’t affect only peoples attitude, but it would attract famous brands to work with.

But this article is rising a question of real influence and likability of famous people, that are idealized and seen as the exemplar in our eyes.

Should we really compare ourselves to the people that are lying to us even about their followers count? If they are faking their influence, maybe everything else about them is complete lie? Will you take them and their content that seriously after all and think that celebrities that are lying straight to you face are better than you?
